In collaboration with development finance institutions, the European Union (EU) has announced a $1.4 billion investment across many projects in Nigeria. The financing will assist Nigeria in its efforts to address climate change by supporting up to sixty initiatives in agriculture, climatology, and digital technologies. Among the projects that will receive EU support between now and 2027 are the establishment of a fish farm in Ogun State, Nigeria's southwest, and a waste-to-energy plant in Cross River, Nigeria's south.

According to the EU ambassador to Nigeria and the Economic Community of West African States, Samuela Isopi, the funds will enable the country to achieve "low carbon, resource-efficient and resilient climate development, producing jobs for youth and economic progress."
