Husk Power Systems, a rural energy services provider, has commissioned six more hybrid solar mini-grids in Nasarawa to deliver sustainable electricity to families and small and medium-sized businesses. ‌‌ When running at full capacity, the 12 mini-grids, each with a 50 kWp capacity, would supply power to roughly 50,000 people in rural regions, replacing about 50% of the diesel generators now in use and cutting energy expenditures by at least 30%.

The business inaugurated its first batch of mini-grids in November 2021, and earlier this year, it announced its Nigeria Sunshot Initiative, which aims to install at least 500 mini-grids by 2026. As a result of this effort, more than two million Nigerians will have access to clean, reliable electricity. Additionally, more than 25,000 diesel generators will be replaced.

The organization is confident in its capacity to contribute considerably to Nigeria's Electricity Transition Plan and its objective of delivering energy for everybody within this decade. In addition, with the support of the relevant parastatal, it hopes to create a rural energy platform to help off-grid and low-grid communities reach their full economic potential.
