Husk Power set to expand its solar mini-grid portfolio

The Company kicked off 2023 with a solar deal worth $750,000.

Husk Power Systems, a prominent provider of net-zero energy services in rural areas in Asia and Africa, operates the largest fleet of community solar mini-grids. The company launched its initial six solar hybrid mini-grids in Nasarawa State, it was the first time a corporation had simultaneously deployed multiple mini-grids under the Nigerian Electrification Project (NEP).

In a similar spirit, Husk intends to use the $750,000 financing provided by Germany's development finance agency (DEG) to construct eight new community solar mini-grids in Nasarawa state, Nigeria, as well as to assist the expansion of the company's operations in India.

It is anticipated that the eight mini-grids to be built in Nasarawa state will be completed in the first half of 2023. In addition to its current twelve operating mini-grids, the company intends to construct an additional 500 mini-grids by 2026. Connecting over 500 residential and commercial clients, lowering the amount of diesel generators in use by 400, and creating over 40 new direct local jobs. Along with reducing carbon emissions by at least 600 tons.
