Oando Clean Energy Limited (OCEL) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA) to facilitate the deployment of electric mass transit buses and supporting infrastructure. This project is very critical as Lagos State is one of the states in Nigeria with the highest vehicle population, with a significant increase in the number of vehicles on its roads over the past decade. In addition, the State is projected to become the world's most populous city by 2100, with up to 100 million residents. As the city grows, so will the number of vehicles, which is bound to trigger increased carbon emissions.

The agreement between Oando and Lagos State remains timely and confirms the state government's commitment to making Lagos a sustainable megacity. It will pave the way for the State Government to realize its goal of deploying electric car infrastructure systems and lowering greenhouse gas emissions. In addition, it will fill a growing state-wide void in the number of available mass transit buses for commuters.
