The Rockefeller Foundation has partnered with Electricity Growth and Use in Developing Economies (e-GUIDE) and Atlas AI, a platform for predictive analytics, to assist sub-Saharan African countries in addressing the impending investment gap in green infrastructure and accelerating climate action initiatives. The three parties will invest $5.5 million in Kenya, Nigeria, Rwanda, and Uganda over the course of three years to promote economic growth and climate resilience through the deployment of next-generation digital tools.

Using satellite data and machine learning technology, the three groups will construct a digital platform to aid communities in the study, development, and implementation of climate-friendly agricultural, energy and transportation solutions, and infrastructure. Based on the analysis and utilization of the gathered data - policymakers, investors, and service providers will receive recommendations for new infrastructure development that may reduce community vulnerabilities and promote investment opportunities for economic growth and environmental sustainability.

The platforms will aid in measuring electricity consumption, carbon emissions, the performance of staple crops, the accumulation of wealth among households, the rate of electrification, climate change, and transportation infrastructure.
